摘要 In a book titled The World Is Flat, author Thomas Friedman postulates how the emergence of Asian powers, which have bridged gaps between developed and developing countries, pose a threat to the United States. China's celebrated economist Cheng Siwei, also Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, is quick to point out that Friedman's theory, one held by many Americans, is biased. Cheng argues that the world has been unevenly developed, and is far from a point of equality.
