《功夫》英文字幕翻译中的归化和异化

归化与异化是翻译中处理文化因素的两种策略。本文在讨论字幕翻译的特点之后,拟以电影《功夫》的英文字幕为例,着重分析这两种策略在字幕翻译中的应用。

The twin practices of adapting foreign words to local culture,and vice versa(sometimes called Domestication and Foreignization,respectively) are two methods of dealing with cultural factors in translation. After a discussion of the distinct characteristics involved in the production of feature film subtitles,the paper traces the manner in which these two tactics are effectively employed. As a practical example supporting the thesis,the case of producing English subtitles for the Chinese movie Kung Fu Hustle,is included.
