The psychological aspects involved in the learning of English culture form the basis of sound English studying habits.These chiefly include the habit of actively mastering En-glish sounds and speech patterns,as well as the proactive cultivation of an instinctive feel for the language.A surveying on the status quo of learning,conducted among some college students and primary school pupils,has established a close relationship between the formation of students' learning habits in primary schools,and their academic profi-ciency at the later stages of education.The elements that lay the groundwork for devel-opment of sound English studying habits—namely,active mastering of sounds and pat-terns by the exercising of basic skills,vigorous fostering of intuition for the English lan-guage in the process of learning,and keen awareness of the background role played by English through personal hands-on experiences—provide students with the solid foundation,necessary for the subsequent sustained development.
