英汉习语的文化差异及翻译等值探究

习语是语言的精华,不仅具有重要的使用价值,还蕴含着深厚的文化价值。中西文化的差异造成了习语翻译中的障碍和难题,在英汉习语的翻译过程中,需要根据等值的类型采用相应的翻译方法,尽可能做到翻译等值。

Idioms are the cream of the language. It is not only a very important part of language,but can reflect its cultural characteristics. The translation of idioms from one language to another has been a knotty problem because of the cultural differences they reflect. The author introduces in this paper several techniques of translating idioms between Chinese and English according to different types of equivalence between SL and TL in order to seek the most possible translating equivalence.
