Henry James' novella The Aspern Papers has kindled the battle field of literary critics since its first publication in 1888. Critics have various versions of its interpretations. This essay is an analysis of indeterminacy in The Aspern Papers from the narrative perspective, trying to reveal James'complex attitude towards first-person narrator's limited point of view and his ambivalent style of writing.
