摘要
为了解目前中国大学生的英语语用语言能力和元语用语言知识,本文作者对80名中国大学生(英语专业和非英语专业各40名)在英语日常交际中的语用语言能力进行了调查。调查结果表明:英语专业和非英语专业学生在恰当执行请求行为以及准确使用语用惯例语方面,能力均不强;两组不同语法能力的学生在语用语言能力上没有明显差异;学生元语用语言知识欠缺。文章建议在大学英语教学中应加强英语元语用语言知识及语用惯例语的教学。
In an attempt to better understand whether Chinese college students today have essential English pragmalinguistic competence and sufficient meta-pragmalinguistic knowledge in daily communication, this study surveys the English pragmalinguistic competence of 80 Chinese college students, of whom 40 are English majors and 40 are non-English majors. The results of the study show that both English majors and non-English majors have a limited choice of linguistic forms with which they can make requests tactfully in certain contexts, and that they have difficulty using some pragmatic routines appropriately and have insufficient meta-pragmalinguistic knowledge. There is no significant difference between the two groups of subjects with different grammatical competence. The study proposes that more emphasis should be placed on increasing students' meta-pragmalinguistic knowledge and teaching pragmatic routines in the teaching of English.
