Bakhtin's Theory of Dialogue and the Study of Clausal Semantics

本文将巴赫金的文艺理论(即对话理论)运用于对子句的语义研究。研究发现,对话理论对子句的人际功能、矛盾修饰法的语义结构、明喻与隐喻的解读具有很强的解释力,这3种语义现象分别体现了说话人与潜在听话人、说话人与“主人公”、“主人公”与“主人公”之间的对话关系。

Bakhtin's utterance theory brought him world fame as a linguist. This paper makes a resourceful application of Bakhtin's theory of dialogue in the analysis of clausal semantics, including interpersonal metafunction, semantic contradiction implied in oxymoron, and the decoding of simile and metaphor, which respectively embody a dialogue between speaker and hearer, speaker and hero, and hero and hero.
