Reflection on Academic Study:An Interview with Professor Lu Yaodong

陆耀东先生是武汉大学中文系教授,博导,兼任中国闻一多研究会会长、中国现代文学研究会名誉理事等。著有《徐志摩评传》、《中国现代四作家论》等。本文是本刊记者霍晓珊与陆老的一次访谈记录,陆先生认为,学者应有实事求是的自省精神,做学问上要有勇气,勇于向人求教,敢于发表新创见。研究视域宜放眼世界,从古今和世界的视域考察问题。对于新诗的研究,应重新思考传统和外国文学对它的影响。新诗的生命在于创新和多样化。

Lu Yaodong is chairman of Academy of Wen Yiduo in China, honorary director of Academy of Chinese Contemporary Literature, and professor of Wuhan University. He is the author of A Critical Biography of Xu Zhimo, Essays on the Four Writers of Chinese Contemporary Literature, etc. In this interview, Prof. Lu expresses his views on the Academic Study. He argues that scholars should be introspective and bold to utter original ideas, and that they should broaden their horizens to do research from the global point of view and from a perspective beyond temporal limits. As to the study of Chinese New poetry, he believes that the influences of tradition and foreign literature should be rethought, and that the life of New Poetry lies in innovation and diversity.
