摘要
本文通过对西方文学界(主要是美国、法国和英国)对美国作家艾德加·爱伦·坡170多年的研究史的梳理,试图说明坡在西方的接受过程以及批评标准的变迁。指出在坡生前到19世纪末的第一阶段,除了少数诗歌外,坡本人和他的小说在美国受到普遍的指责和排斥,相反,在英国和法国尤其是法国,坡的作品受到了强烈的肯定;第二阶段从20世纪初到20世纪60年代,坡的小说逐渐成为研究重点并被经典化,研究方法也逐渐走向科学化;第三阶段从20世纪70年代至今,这个阶段的坡批评明显地呈现出多元化的趋势。
With the summary of the critical history of Poe in west (mainly in America, France and Britain), the author tries to give a picture of the western recognition of Poe and the changes of literary criteria. At the first stage, except a few of verses, Poe and his novels was blawed with reject in the U. S. and accepted in American Britain and France. From the early 20th century to the 1960s, Poe' s novels gradually became the connon. Since the 1970s, Poe studies present the trend of diversification.
