Another Narration on Symbols for the New Phase of Foreign Language Studies in China

作者提出,以下两点也是外语研究新阶段的重要标志:(1)对工具性语言研究保持持久的重视;(2)注意吸纳西方语言哲学(以下简称"西语哲")的合理成分。

As a sequent part of'On Some Symbols for the New Phase of Foreign Language Studies in China'(see China Foreign Languages in China, 2004(1)),this paper intends to set up the additional points that(1)the CFS(the Circle of Foreign Studies, hence)should have attached importance to meta- language researches;(2)the CFS should have fully recognized the significance that the Western philosophy of language may upgrade language researches in terms of the following three aspects that,first,the philosophy is like a feed block to language science,providing fertile nutrition which varying branches of language science need;second, it may recast root-and-branch stuff that linguists should be aware of;finally,from it,a linguist may spoon out one or more starting points,from where a new branch of linguistics or a new theory may grow.
