Hangman for spelling practiceThe teacher thinks of a familiar word.Onthe blackboard,she puts a dash for each letter ofthe word,e.g._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (elephant).Letchildren suggest letters which they think mightbe in the word.If their suggestion is in theword,the teacher writes it in the appropriatespace.E.g.e_e_ _ _ _ _.If the letter is notin the word,the teacher lists it at the side ofthe blackboard under the heading"used letters".Also,the teacher draws one part of a hangmanfor each letter not in the word.If children
