So-called “Environment Art” isused to embellish allthe art workssuch as buildings, squares and public set, etc in public places. However, nowadays it generally refers to “Painting and Sculpture Works” in public space environment more, because in currentperiod theycomprise the “Core” ofmodern environment art. Mostof thisso- called environment art sculpture are such metal “Sculpture” as fudged globes, star, etc. Ithink the material art I should recommend is “Ceramic” because earth breedsthe land and everything. However, man as a product of nature has natural cleaving to earth. Thismentality requirementisremarkable in post-modern period, and yearning fornature and returning to simplicity area kind of life experience, because the close relationship between ceramic and man can date backto the primitivelife. Marx said labor created man, man knew how to use toolsin labor and ceramic was theearliest production tool. China’s brilliant colorful ceramicculture isan evidence. In face of ceramic, as a contemporaryearth exertiveof ceramic art, how can wedig theessence and intension of ceramic culture, explore new contentand mode, remove the inherence, re-consider, penetrate the complicated superficialphenomenon, keep calm and endure temptation? Using the principle “Exertion” to comprehend the profoundness of China’s ceramic culture is not merely to be an explorer of ceramic mode, but more important to be a grasper and inheritor of ceramic spirit.
