In third-tier colleges, the phenomenon that English majors＇ listening ability is poor is common, which originated in the poor English basis. In view of the existing problem, the writer, from the angle of teaching methods, put forward the—— enhancing the training of basic English skills, supplementing the background knowledge on culture, optimizing mental environment and so on, which is beneficial to strengthening the listening teaching at elementary stage.
