归化——隐喻意象的致命杀手

Domestication—the Killer of Metaphorical Images

本文就隐喻成语翻译的文化意象缺失或扭曲现象作了简要分析,指出造成这类翻译失误的根本原因是译者对原语隐喻意象反映其文化个性的重要性缺乏充分认识,错误地采用归化翻译方法使然。并主张译者应尽可能采用意象复制方法,将原文隐喻意象移植到目标语中,从而把原丈的文化信息失真降低到最低限度。

This paper gives a brief analysis of distortion and loss of images of metaphorical idioms in translation,and points out that such errors result from the translator improperly adopting the translation method of foreignization owing to a lack of awareness of the fact that the image represents the individuality of a specific culture.The paper argues that a translator should reproduce the image of the SL in the TL so as to keep the individuality of the SL by reducing the distortion of its cultural information to the minimum.
