佛经翻译,对于佛教在中国的传播和中国文化都产生了久远而深刻的影响。鸠摩罗什与玄奘是佛经翻译史中的两位宗师。罗什崇尚绮丽,主张“依实出华”。玄奘提出了“五不翻”理论,他的译文确切流畅。二者分别代表了“意译”与“直译”两大派别。

Translation of Buddhism has a remote and deep effect on the spread of Buddhism in China and Chinese culture. Jiumoluoshi and Xuanzang are two masters of great learning and integrity of Buddhist Scripture. Luoshi advocated beauty and maintained that flowery languages should be used in good translation, which is based on facts and keeps the main idea of Buddism. But Xuanzang advanced a 'Five Kinds of Transliteration' theory. They represent their respective schools——'Free Translation' and 'Word—for—word Translation'.
