日本版画对世界影响最大的是江户时代的“浮世绘”,代表人物有: 菱川师宣、喜多川歌磨、葛饰北斋、安藤广重。日本版画在19世纪中叶达到了发展周期的尾声阶段,但却开始在法国引起了艺术家们的极大兴趣。河西万文是日本当代著名版画家,其作品用诗一般的情感、孤独和静穆的悲哀,给自己的观念中注入生命的律动和感奋,进而以一种原始率真的美表现出雄浑深沉的精神力量。这是材料与技法的契合,更是观念与情感的交融。

The biggest influence of Japanese woodblock prints on the world was the Edo period 'Ukiyoe prints'. The Japanese woodcut reached the coda stage of its development in. the middle period of 19th century when it brought much interests in France among the artists.
