To evalute the surgical performance and postoperative outcome of the G lens of phaco model. This retrospective study comprised 200 cataract patients who had endocapsular phacomulsfication with G lens of phaco model implantation from January 1991 to March 1995.Patients were excluded in case of glaucoma, retinal pathology and corneal diseases. The main outcome measures were intraoperative ,postoperative complications and best corrected visual acuity.A minimum of 2 years following up was achieved, average 35.4 months. 28.5% of cases developed posterior capsule opacification (PCO) that required a neodymium:YAG (Nd:YAG) laser capsulotomy. There were no serious comlications. The best corrected visual acuity was 0.97 at one week after operation,0.98 at one month and stable since then. The G lens centered well in the capsular bags except 1 case needed reimplantation. The G lens of phaco model is suitable for small incision in elder patients cataract operation without a high rate of complication. It can be implanted by sutures in the capsule ruptured patients.
