In China's traditional history of health-keeping thoughts, not only the Daoists but the Confucianists believe in being quiet to keep fit. Through the comparison of the two kinds of quietness, the essay thinks that the quietness of the Daoists refers to 'doing nothing but doing everything' , the quietness of the Confucianists refers to 'the doctrine of the mean' To be quiet, the Daoists adopt the practice of Qigong, whereas the Confucianists adopt being moderate, Knowing the difference, we can have a new understanding of Confucious's 'benevolence results in longevity' , and have an all-round grasp of the Daoists' thoughts of being quiet to keep fit.
