A number of prokaryotic expression vectors are tried for the purpose of obtaining a soluble high level expression of CT 1. Among them the highest expression level of the recombinant protein is about 25% of the total cell proteins, and the soluble portion after sonication is about 10.7%. Purification of the soluble portion with a strong anion exchange media and gel filtration result in 80% purified recombinant protein.
