A new triterpenoid saponin named escin IV e was isolated from the seeds of Aesculus chinensis. Its structure was established as 28-tigloylprotoaescigenin-3 beta-O- [beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1-2)] [beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1-4)] -beta-D-glucopyranosiduronic acid.
