Linguistic taboo and euphemism in Hakka dialect

言语禁忌和委婉表达是人类语言中普遍的现象。研究言语禁忌和委婉语对人类学、民俗学和语言学都具有重要的价值。本文讨论客家方言中有关对死亡、疾病、衰败、生殖、污秽、鬼怪等方面的言语禁忌现象，并从词汇、语音、句法等方面探讨委婉语对语言发展的影响。

linguistic taboo and euphemism are common to various languages, and the studies on them have animportant beading on anthropology ,folklore and linguistics. This paper discusses taboo words concerning death illness,decline, genital organs filthy and ghosts and monsters etc in Hakka dialect, and analyzes the influence of phemism upon changes in die dialect from the angles of lexicology, phonetics and syntax, etc.
