运用法律指标方法对特定国家或地区的法律状况进行客观描述与说明，既具有计量性、整体性、现实性、经验与理论相结合等优点，又由于受指标方法本身的特点和法律现象的特殊性与复杂性制约而具有局限性。在法律指标的设计与运用中，应自觉地根据其特点、扬其所长，避其所短。

Owingto their measurability,integrality,and combination of theories and experiences,legal targets have the cognitive function of describing and reflecting the legal status of a country or any one of its localities.It is pointed out that the mode 0f description and reflection as well as the visual angle has bkth advantages and limitations.Therefore,it is recommended that while desning and carrying out these legal targets,one should make the best use of their advantages and bypass their disadvantages in accordance with their characteristix features.
