Magnesium alloys are excellent materials for die castings, but they must be processed correctly before their significant advantages can be realized. Magnesium die casting alloys are light-weight and offer designers a wide varity of possible applications. This paper described magnesium alloy charc-teristics, and dicussed the effects of storage, melting, refining of the alloys, cast process and dies on the production of high quality magnesium die castings.
