摘要
根据捕自广西北海市近海的５头儒艮（３雌２雄）标本详细描述。中国近海产的儒艮体长２２１ｃｍ～２９３ｃｍ，最大体重４５５ｋｇ。椎式为Ｃ７＋Ｔ１８－１９＋Ｌ５＋Ｃａ２５－２９＝５５－６０。指式（不包括掌骨）为Ⅰ１，Ⅱ３，Ⅲ３，Ⅳ３，Ⅴ２。
The paper in detail descriptes the external feature,skeleton of the dugong (Dugong dugong) from offshore of China. It is based on five specimens (3♀ 2♂) caught from Beihai offshore of Guangxi.The body length is 221 m～293 m,the maximum weight is about 455 kg.There are two incisors out of the mouth, male has a big cirrus,female has a pair of breasts behind the flipper.The body are blackgrey. The characteristics of external feature and skeleton are indicated in plates Ⅰ-Ⅱ,and the measurements given in tables 1～6. The vertebral formula of the specimen from Beihai is C7+T18-19+ L5+ Ca25-29=55-60.Flippers have five fingers,and the phalangeal formula is Ⅰ1,Ⅱ3,Ⅲ3,Ⅳ3,Ⅴ2.There is a trace of hindleg bones remained.This species is found mostly along the coast of Guangxi and western Guangdong,and distributes within 20 m of the seabeach.They are progenitive throughout the year.Usually they give a birth every three years,with 400 days incubation period.
