This paper probes into the rivalry between life consciousness and ethic will that exists in Zhang Wei's full-length novels, then goes on to point out that worthy literary works do not attempt to avert this kind of rivalry that chances to appear in them. In a sense, contemporary works of excellence do not promise to construct an artistic conception of harmony between thinking and poetry in the literary world.
