西宁市海拔2261余米,除拉萨外,它是全国海拔最高的省会,气候凉爽,向有“西宁无夏日”的美称。西宁位于青海东北部湟水谷地中,好像翡翠上的一粒光辉灿烂的明珠。西宁历史悠久,东汉在这里置西都,三国曹魏在此构筑城垣,是著名的“丝路南线”和“唐蕃古道”的要津,文成公主入藏一路留下许多遗迹和传说。优秀的民族创造了灿烂的文化,这里有世界上最长的史诗《格萨尔王》。
Xining,the capital city of Qinghai Province,boasts a long history and splendid culture.It is situated at a communication shub of the ancient South Silk Road and Tang Fan Road.The Tibetan folk epic“The Deeds of King Gesar”,the world's longest one,emerged here.Xining is in- habited by several ethnic groups such as Hui,Han,Yugu with Hui nationality being the most populous.They all live inharmony.The local residents are fond of going outing for picnics and singing folk song“'Flower”.The city,home to many cultural relics is also a worthy tourist spot and summer resort.
