泸沽湖 母亲湖

The Lugu Lake,the Mother lake

有人说,高山上的湖水,是地球表面淌下的一滴眼泪。摩梭人却把泸沽湖称作“谢纳咪”,即母亲之意。从航天城西昌西行100多公里,川滇接壤处的崇山峻岭之间,明镜般地镶嵌着一汪碧绿的湖水,它就是美丽神秘的泸沽湖。泸沽湖总面积有5000多公顷,湖周群山怀抱,森林茂密。

One hundred kilometres to the west of Xichang city,among the deep mountain ranges on the borders of Yanyuan County,Sichuan Province and Ninglang County,Yunnan Province,is the mysterious,scenic lake the Lugu. The Lugu lake covers an area of 5,000 hectares surrounded with thick woods.The shapely Goddess Gemu's Mountain stands at the southeast and the Mosuo people's villages are scattered around the lake,featuring the Lugu's naturalness,harmony and tranquility. For various reasons the Mosuo people still live in a matriarchal society and practise the liberal marriage known as“a Zhu”.In an “a Zhu”relation the male and the female call each other“a Xiao”;they belong to their own original family and their children are brought up by the maternal side,named after the mother and do not even recognize their father.Mothers are the centre of the Mosuo people's life and the Lugu Lake has become known to the world as the“land of girls”.
