This paper summarizes the theoretic geochemical methods of study on nonlineardynamics by using time and space series data. These methods include (1) constructing an appropriate phase space for the time (space )series data, (2)calculating dimensions of attractor,and (3)analyzing the dynamic characteristics. Two examples are discussed in the paper: (1)Itis found that the concentration of copper in solution oscillates nonperiodically with reactiontime in the kinetic experiment of dissolution of chalcocite in NaCI solution (NaCl concentration 2 mol/1,pH 6. 04 and temperature 70℃). The analysis show that dissolution kinetic process is a chaotic dynamic process and fractal dimensions of chaotic attractors are 2. 78, (2)The results of electron microprobe analysis on changes of Ag contents from core to edge forchalcocite in Chejiang copper deposit,Hunan show that Ag contents obviously oscillate withspace. The analysis showed that fractal dimensions of chaotic attractors are 3. 42 and the precipitation and growth of chalcocite during ore-forming process are a chaotic dynamic process.
