A new magnetic effect is presented in this paper. When Square-Wave signal is applied to zero - magnetostrictive amorphous wire with a paralleled inductance, a series of narrow switching peaks are induced between both ends of the wire. The external DC magnetic field changes the peaks of the pulses. Therefore, the value of the external magnetic field is obtained by detecting the peak amplitude. This effect can be applied to constructing small and simple magnetic sensors and rotary encoders.
