A BIOREACTOR FOR TWO STAGE MULTIPLE SHOOT CULTURE OF CATHARANTHUS ROSEUS

摘要 A self made gas-liquid jet bioreactor in spray flow mode is used in the two-stage multiple shoot culture of C. roseus. The experimental results show that the gas-liquid jet bioreactor is suitable for the multiple shoot culture of C. roseus in two stages, and the multiple shoots of C. roseus reach as high as 35g(dry wt.) · L-1 of biomass content and as high as 1.18% (dry wt.) of total indole alkaloids. 1 INTRODUCTIONThe production of commercially important indole alkaloid from tissue culture of C.roseus hasbeen a major objective of research carried out worldwide[1].Of primary importance has beenthe production of catharanthine and vindoline which can be used as precursor for thesynthesis of commercially important antineoplastic agents,vinblastine and vincristine.
