Abstract This article introduces special marriage customs in Gansu and in the northwest area. Thereare many particular and taboo ways in welcoming or sending the bride to the groom' s fami-ly. For example, the new couple do not usc their own bridal chamber. The guests lock upthe bridal chamber, have joke with the new couple, listen at the window in the night andso on.
