An fcc metastable phase was first found in the rapidly solidified (RS) Ni-Ti SMA strip pre-pared by single roller melt spinning method.The lattice constant a0 of this phase is 4.300 A.ltscomposition is the same as that of the matrix,and it is also composed of near-equiatomic Ni andTi.The morphology,distribution and formation mechanism of this phase were analysed and dis-cussed.
