A Probe into the Meanings of an English Word

着重探讨和分析了英语词汇四个方面的语义,即:表示语义和事物关系的外延意义;表示语义和语法关系的语法意义;表示语义和人的关系的内涵意义;不同语言词汇之间的翻译意义.

This paper focuses its analysis on the four aspects of meaning of an English word, namely, the denotative meaning showing the relation between meaning and things, the grammatical meaning showing the relation between meaning and grammar, the connotative meaning showing the relation between meaning and people and the translational meaning between words of different languages.
