Observations on Effect of MDT in Multibacillary Leprosy for Five Years

1983～1988年间我们对扬州市和东台县十二个县(市)的647例多菌型麻风患者用RFP、B663和DDS联合治疗,受治率为97%,其中347例已观察5年,结果显示BI<3.0者大多(80%)在治疗3年和Bl≥3.0者大多(90%)在治疗5年时查菌阴转,届时尚未阴转者平均Bl均在0.5以下。对查菌阴性和临床不活动的257例在停止治疗后至今已监测了470人年,均未见复发。

Six hundred and fourty-seven cases of active multibacillary leprosy were treated with RFP,B_(663) and DDS in 12 counties in Yangzhou District and Dongtai County during the period of 1983 to 1988. The acceptance rate of MDT was 97%, and 347 cases have been observed for five years. The results showed that 80% of the pa- tients whose BI was less than 3 through three years of treatment, and 90% of the patients whose BI was more than or equal to three through five year treatment, became skin smear negative respectively. However, in the patients with skin smears positive after three or five year treatment, the BI was less than 0.5 averagely. Up to now, 257 cases with negative skin smear have been followed-up for 470 pa- tient-year after cessation of MDT, and no relapse has been found.
