THE MAXIMAL OSCILLATION PROBLEM FOR p-FUNCTIONS

摘要 Let P denote the class of all standard p-functions as defined in Kingman's theory of regenerative phenomena. Put I(M)=inf inf p(t), and v_0=inf{M: I(M)>0}. In this paper, a new upper bound for v_0 is obtained: v_0≤(1/2). Let P denote the class of all standard p-functions as defined in Kingman’s theory of regenerative phenomena. Put I(M)=inf inf p(t), and v<sub>0</sub>=inf{M: I(M)&gt;0}. In this paper, a new upper bound for v<sub>0</sub> is obtained: v<sub>0</sub>≤(1/2).
