数学事业可望率先赶上世界先进水平

CHINA'S MATHEMATICS MAY FIRST CATCH UP THE ADVANCED WORLD LEVEL

为了使我国数学科学能够加速发展,要做的事情很多,但最关键的是培养和选拔尖子人才,如果我们能在不太长的时间内培养出几十个世界第一流的数学家,我国数学率先赶上国际水平的目标就有了切实的保证,而要做好这件大事,第一需要止确的稳定的政策,第二需要国家增加对数学的研究经费,第三需要数学界的团结协作和艰苦奋斗,坚持扎扎实实地工作。经过我国数学家的共同努力,中华数学科学的腾飞局面不久定会出现。

To accelerate the advance of China's mathematical science, there are much to be done. The most important work is the selection and training of talented people. If we can train dozens of first-rate world famous mathematicians in a not too long period of time, there will be reliable guarantee for China's mathematics to take the lead in catching up the international level. To achieve this goal, we need(1)a correct and stable policy; (2)increased state allocation of expenditures for mathematical research; (3)unity, cooperation and hard and down-to-earth work of people in the mathematical field. Through the joint efforts of our mathematicians, the take-off of China's mathematical science will certainly appear in a brief period of time.
