In this paper, the author discusses the problems encountered in a conventional double-absorption process using carbonaceous pyrites and presents a new double-absorption process with a five bed converter in( 4 + 1 Configuration and Ⅳ, Ⅱ,-V, 'roasting gas' heat exchange model. The major equipment parameters and process data are given and the advantages and disadvantages are discussed.
