The role of Surveying in Cartography

本文首先闸述了测量学与地图制图的关系,再分析了目前地图制图学科对测量学地位的看法,分别对综合性大学地理系“地图学”教材内容安排和测绘院校地图制图专业对测量学的安排,说明两者的不足之处导致地图专业人员缺乏测量知识。作者在最后提供了几点可行的建议。

Abstract After explaining the relationship between surveying and carogaphy , this paper sets out to analyse the role played by surveying in cartography. By discussing the content of cartography textbooks used in geography departments at comprehensive universities and the arrangement of surveying courses in cartography programmes at technical universities specialized in surveying and mapping, it points out that the shortcomings of both have led to the inadequacy of the knowledge of surveying possessed by cartographers so trained. Suggestions to counteract are thus proposed.
