摘要 现代计算机技术的竞争与整个高技术领域及军事工业内的竞争紧紧连在一起,以往的竞争在于要给机器以“逻辑力”,现在的竞争在于给机器以“知觉力”,这种研究涉及到计算机技术、半导体技术、心理学、神经生理学、数学、物理等许多学科,是个综合性课题。在这场竞争中,美籍华人学者曹天仁脱颖而出,在主流派权威们兜着圈子的时候,他另辟蹊径,提出了新方法——人工神经网络设计中的群论方法,在学术界引起震动,美国有关方面从星球大战计划款项中拨巨资支持他的研究。由于种种原因,他的学术思想过去未能写成文章发表,他现在要求把公开阐述他的学术思想的第一篇文章在祖国——中国的刊物上刊载。本刊能为发表他的文章,介绍他的学术思想而深感荣幸。值得一提的是,本刊曾在1984年第3期上刊登过他哥哥曹天予的论文《量子场论中重整化纲领的形成》。当时,曹天予还身处逆境,没有一个工作单位,现为剑桥大学三一学院院士。 Artificial neural networks are considered as hopeful candidates for solving perceptual problems with great complexities. One such complex problem is recognizing invariants under the rigid motion group. An artificial neural network with a pattern transformation mechanism of the 3D rigid motion group is proposed. Following Pitts and McCulloch’s approach,the continuous pattern transformations are implemented as incremental translation processes. This artificial neural network design has the advantegy of avoiding the intractable complexity due to the volume of parameter space of rigid motion group as well as range of depths of the visible surfaces.
