The causes of outside scabs during diameter reduction of steel pipes are analyzed and a numberof measures taken to eliminate the defect is described.Production practice of years shows that themeasures are quite effective on improving the machining precision of diameter reducing passes,avoiding the non-uniform wear of roll passes and eliminating outside scabs during diameter reductionof steel pipes.
