To locate epitopes on glycoprotein antigen of rabies virus, the glycoprotein was urified by SDS-PAGE. The purified glycoprotein was digested at glutamic acid residues by rotease V8, transferred to nitrocellulose. The McAbs directed against the rabies virus lycoprotein have been used to delineate the site on the glycoprotein. One McAb-positive ragment of glycoprotein (G-V-6) was Selected by immunostaining. The N-terminal sequence of the urified fragment was determined by direct amino acid sequence analysis. The results indicat hat this method leads to the elucidation and rnapping of the antigenic determinant.
