摘要
本文是笔者在美国波特兰州立大学地理系和威斯康星大学地理系学习进修期间完成的。文章分两部分介绍了地理信息系统和智能系统的基本结构及其特性,同时着重指出了地理信息系统目前的应用水平和范围,以及智能系统在地理信息系统中的使用和发展前景。
This paper is organized in two major sections.The
first section provides an overview of developments and applications of
geographic information systems(GIS)in America over the past 20 years,
together with some indications of lessons learned and prospects for the
future.We discuss the requirements that a GIS should satisfy,as well
as listing a set of basic principles that may be used In designing and implementing GIS.Five major components of a GIS are identified.They
include data entry and data store,data base management,analysis of
data,display and product generation,and user interface.The content
and function in each component are briefly discussed.At same time,
this paper provides an example of that are important in the design and
applications of GIS.
In the next major section,we discuss the nature of expert systems
with special attention to the construction process.Three major problem
domains of GIS where expert systems technology is being developed are
identified.They include map design,terrain/feature extraction,and
geographic data base management.Some effects in each domain are brie-
fly reviewed.Finally,we suggest tha many of the future research needs
of geographic information systems will be addressed within the context
of expert systems development.
