Ambiguity is a natural phenomenon in language. On many occasions, people try their best to express themselves clearly and understandingly as ambiguity is regarded as a taboo in communication. However, ambiguity does not always play a negative role in.our daily life. The thesis analyses the positive effect of ambiguity-creating humor from four perspectives： phonological, lexical, grammatical and pragmatic.
