摘要
本文旨在调查语言水平与习语类型对中国EFL学生理解英语习语的影响。本文结论是:语言水平与习语类型对学习者理解英语习语都有显著影响;其他影响英语习语理解的因素包括:习语的字面意义和比喻意义之间的联系、与母语相关的文化背景知识、习语涉及到的不同的心理意象等。
This essay aims to investigate the effect of language proficiency and idiom types on Chinese EFL learners' understanding of English idioms. The results show that language proficiency and Idiom types do affect learners' comprehension of English idioms greatly. Some other factors also influence the results of idiom comprehension, for instance, the link between the idiom's literal meaning and its figurative meaning, the cultural background knowledge related to L1 and different mental images activated by idioms.
