Pearl S. Buck cares very much about the ordinary Chinese people, especially their issues concerning rural areas, agriculture and peasants in a small-farm economy. She writes her thoughts on China＇ s rural areas into The Good Earth trilogy. Through the stories of Wang Lung and his family, she reflects on such is- sues as rebellion and class in a small-farm economy and discusses the fixes in rural areas faced by peasants and their way out. Her thoughts can still cast light on today＇ s problems in rural areas.
