诺贝尔文学奖获得者赛珍珠在美国不仅遭到了男性作家的排斥,还遭到女性主义作家的否定。其原因并非像一些西方白人女性主义批评家所说,在于赛珍珠的作品没有反映出女性主义的文学传统,而在于赛珍珠是一个根植于东西方两个世界的独特的女性主义者。从第三世界女性主义视角来看,赛珍珠虽然身为西方白人中产阶级妇女,谙熟西方白人女性主义的理论,但她由于从小生长在第三世界,十分了解第三世界妇女的真实生存状况,所以她在创作上摆脱了西方白人女性主义的褊狭。作为一位真正的女性主义者,她极具前瞻性的思想现在得到了越来越广泛的关注和赞扬。

In the United States, the Nobel laureate Pearl S. Buck was not only sneezed at by male writers, but also criticized by feminist writers. It is not because she didn＇ t inherit women＇ s literary tradition as some white western feminist critics believe, but because she is a unique feminist rooted in both Eastern and Western world. Although she came from a white American middle class family and was quite familiar with the white feminist theory, she was different from white feminists and had no prejudice against the third world women, since she grew up in the third world environment and knew very well about the real situation of them. Under the third world feminist perspective, Pearl S. Buck is a true feminist beyond time and space, and her special thought actually gets more and more attention and praise from present scholars.
