摘要
简括地说，词汇学就是研究语言的词汇，而词汇语义学就是研究词汇的词义。本文对词汇学的历史演化轨迹及各研究侧面做了简要的回顾和梳理，充分肯定了词汇学对词汇诸方面的考察所作出的重要贡献，审视了词汇学与语义学的密切关联性，指出在当代语言学研究背景中词汇学向词汇语义学转向的必然性，同时展望词汇语义学未来的发展趋向及其探究重点，预示词汇语义学在语言学研究及语言教学实践中必将成为一门显学。
Lexicology is concerned with the study of words, while lexical semantics is committed to the investigation of the meanings of words. The present paper briefly reviews the historical developments of lexicology and its research focuses. Having done this, the paper fully acknowledges the significant contributions made by lexieological studies, exam- ines the intimate relationship between lexicology and semantics, and then stresses the necessity of the turn from lexieology to lexical semantics in the contemporary context of linguistics. Besides, the paper tells the future developments and the research concentrations of lexical semantics. Finally, it predicts the important role lexical semantics will play both in linguistic studies and language teaching and learning.
