Based on the Pilot National Asian American Political Survey 2000-2001, this article analyzes the transnational political participation of Asian Americans from a comparative perspective. While comparing the political participation of Latinos and Asian Americans, the author examines the formation and characteristics of Asian American political participation and their correlations empirically, with a focus on issues such as whether Asian immigrants could be assimilated, whether the political activities could be transnational, who among Asian Americans would participate in transnational politics, as well as political transnationalism and political assimilation among Asian Americans. It is concluded that similarities can be seen in many aspects between the two racial groups. The viewpoint of "unassimilated" Asian Americans thus cannot be accepted. In addition, maintaining transnational ties among Asian Americans would not have any negative impact on their assimilation into host culture and politics. Finally, three types of Asian Americans are distinguished to have higher likelihood of transnational political participation, including those who had actively participated in politics prior to their emigration, those who are actively involved in the ethnic community activities of America, and those who are keen in any political activities concerning Asian Americans.
