An Analysis on the Translation Errors of Public Signs in Guilin

对于来到中国而又不懂汉语的外国客商和旅游者来说,公示语英译的重要性可想而知,但是我国公示语的英译质量却令人担忧。本文以桂林市为例,对我国公示语英译中的谬误进行了尝试性分析。

For the foreign merchants and tourists who come to China but don＇t understand Chinese at all, the importance of English version of public signs is, surely, out of question, but the quality of English transition of public signs in our country is worrying. This paper, taking the city of Guilin as an example, has tentatively analyzed the Translation Errors of Public Signs.
