This paper focuses on the flight on the part of the slaves which was common before the Civil War. It attempts to throw light upon the cases where the slaves became desperate in taking flight at the risk of their lives.and the necessaries to ensure ranaways a successsful escape. In the end of the paper, it makes an analysis of the characteristics of the fugitive slaves population.
